Performance and Credit Rating Scheme

Performance and Credit Rating Scheme

The Performance and Credit Rating Scheme aims to provide Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) with an independent assessment of their operational capabilities and creditworthiness. This third-party evaluation helps MSEs understand their business strengths and weaknesses, offering them the chance to enhance their organizational performance and credit standing. As a result, businesses can access financing under more favorable terms and improve their acceptance among customers, buyers, and vendors. The rating combines various credit and performance metrics, with standardized rating symbols used consistently across all accredited agencies.

Nature of Assistance

The government subsidizes the rating fee for MSEs, covering up to 75% of the cost, with a cap based on the enterprise's turnover. The subsidy limits are ₹15,000, ₹30,000, or ₹40,000 for the initial year of rating. This financial support helps reduce the cost burden on MSEs seeking a performance and credit rating.

How to Apply

To apply for a rating, MSEs should choose one of the accredited rating agencies listed under the scheme. They need to fill out the application form, which can be downloaded from the Ministry of MSME’s website, the NSIC website, the Office of DC-MSME, or directly from the rating agencies. Completed forms, along with the necessary documents and the applicant's portion of the rating fee, should be submitted to the selected rating agency.
